The surge in popularity of collagen-boosting treatments such as Sculptra® can be attributed to their remarkable, natural-looking outcomes. As we age, collagen diminishes up to 25% by the time we reach 45 – leading to unwelcome wrinkles and sagging skin. Collagen-stimulating injectables are designed to invigorate the body's own collagen production process to give you subtle but incredible improvements in skin elasticity and smoothing of deep wrinkles over time. Commonly Asked Questions
You may be familiar with Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers like Restylane or Juvederm. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that can be naturally found in our face and body, and injectable HA is commonly used to reduce fine lines and to enhance facial volume. The effects are usually quite immediate.
In contrast, Sculptra is a Poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA) filler. PLLA is generally referred to as a bio-stimulating filler, meaning that it stimulates our own skin to produce collagen. Once injected, the PLLA is broken down into water and carbon dioxide over time but can not be dissolved or reversed by Hyaluronidase. Unlike the rather immediate effects from injectable HA, the effects of injectable PLLA appear gradually over a few months. This approach is slow and gradual, but will give an incredibly natural effect.
Our Sculptra appointments usually start with a discussion of your individual needs and goals at our office. We recommend a series of treatments over time for subtle yet noticeable results - Sculptra is designed to restore collagen gradually and can last up to two years.
On average, full effects of Sculptra are seen after three treatment sessions over the course of a few months. Even though the effect kicks in slower, the results will resonate the most with the authenticity of your beauty.
